SPC Mini Camp- Sept- 2011 A REPORT

The Mini Camp September- 2011 Was started on the 3rd of September. The inaugural function was held at 9.30 am. The inaugural meeting was presided over by the honourable Headmaster Sri George Joseph. Adv. Tajmol; the Municipal Chair-Person inaugurated the function. Sri Babu george and Sri George Thannickal; Municipal Councillors, Sri Sri Thomas, SI Thodupuzha, Sri Sri Kareem, ASI Thodupuzha and Dr Sr. Shalu Koikara falicitated the occasion. Sri Bijoy Mathew, CPO welcomed the gathering and Sri AR Krishanan Nair, Civil Police Officer expressed the vote of thanks. The next session of the camp was a class by Rev Dr Shalu Koikra. The main topic of the class was the 'Teenagers an their Thoughts'. The class focused mainly on the physical growth and development with problems those are likely to arise during this period. She emphasised the need to fill our minds with thoughts and to train oneself tame our thoughts to form our personality. She imparted the ways how one will train himself to be thankful and loving to others, and the needs to inculcate in him the basic qualities and virtues in the childhood itself. The afternoon session of the first day was set apart for the visit to the 'Lunar Rubber Factory'. The Cadets got the first hand experience of the functioning of a factory. They came to know the steps through which about ten models of slippers and sandals are made and marketed in the factory. They got a chance to have an interaction with the factory workers and their lives of toil. All the Cadets are so grateful to the management of 'Lunar Rubbers' for availing them the chance to visit it and explaining them the functioning of the factory. The second day was of a hectic schedule. The day began with the class on 'Road Regulations' by Joint RTO, Sri David. He explained the rules both the drivers and the pedestrians should follow. He explained the causes which lead to the accidents. He told us the need to obey the traffic signals and rules. He explained certain basic rules which every one should know and follow for the safe journey. The second class of the day was by Dr Joshy Varghese, the NCC Coordinator and the Professor of St Joseph's College Moolamattom. He made the Cadets aware about the need to set a 'New Philosophy for a Successful life. He made the Cadets realise the need to inculcate in them the noble ideas of loyalty, truthfulness, brotherhood, fear of God, love piety etc. Besides, he told them the need to love and respect parents and teachers as that of God. The cadets were so thrilled to interact with the cine artist Nishant sagar. He was so happy to spend a few time with the cadets. He was so happy to answer all the questions those the Cadets raised to him. Any way, it was a thrilling experience for the Cadets. The afternoon session was noted with the presence of the District Nodal Officer Sri V U Kuriakose, DySP, CD. He explained the Cadets the aims and objectives of the SPC Project. Besides, he told them what all changes those are expected in them and through them in the society. He appreciated the organisation and functioning of the camp. The next session was the class on 'Public Speech' by Sri Vivish V Roldent. The interaction was so effective that the Cadets were so motivated that they, first in groups, then individually they came forward and started to speak fearlessly on any topic that was given to them on the spot. It was a wonderful experience for them to bring out their talents. It was an extraordinary training given to them to bring out their hidden talents and to react fearlessly to any apparent injustice that they are likely to come across. The third and final day of the camp started with an interaction by the Laison Officer Sri N R Jayaraj, CI Thodupuzha. He explained the Cadets the need to be hygienic and self disciplined. He wished all the Cadets all success in their life as it was the time of his transfer. Immediately after the class the Cadets were taken to visit the Al Azar Dental College, Perumpillichira. The Management and the Staff of the college welcomed the team. The Cadets were divided in to different groups and was lead by one each faculty. They explained the various functioning of various departments in the college . The session ended with the free dental check up and a class on the ways and need to protect our teeth. The Cadets reached the Camp for the noon meal. The afternoon session began with the quiz competition. The quiz master was Sri Xavi Joseph. He motivated the Cadets about the need to foster the attitude for General Knowledge. The winners of the competition were Ajumal P K and Ashik P K. There was a memory test. Rahul C R and Sameer Jafar stood first and second respectively. Smt R Nishanthini IPS, ASP Thodupuzha, came to interact with the Cadets at 3pm. It was a memorable experience for the cadets. She conducted many programmes so as to test the rate of growth of personality and maturity of the Cadets and to improve them. She made a few Cadets to make an evaluation about the camp. She presented the prizes to the winners of various competitions. The Camp was a successful and fruitful one both with the presence of eminent personalities and the variety of topics discussed in it. The cadets could be given exposure to varies fields both through the indoor classes and out door visits. All the cadets and their parents are so grateful to the authority for availing their wards such an opportunity.
